Using patterns to make things appear in an orderly manner. Patterns can be simple, or they can be complex, or they can be a combination of many things. Patterns are easy to make but they can be hard to make all at once.
It’s easy to make an awful number of patterns look like they’re in real-life situations, but it is hard to make a pattern that looks like a pattern that fits a pattern so well. The problem is that you have so many patterns in your head that you can’t keep them all.
So, there are two things that you need to keep in mind: 1) you need to keep the patterns you want to make, in order, in your head. 2) You have to keep your brain open enough to see patterns that look real so that you can keep making them.
So, if you have a bunch of patterns in your head and you cant keep them all, the only way to make them look like theyre in real-life situations is by trying to make them look like theyre in a real-life situation, that way you keep the patterns in your head.
This is where the first thing to do is to get to the bottom of your design philosophy, or what I prefer to call the “pattern-design” philosophy. This is one of the things that I’ll be using in the title of this chapter.
The pattern design philosophy has to do with whether or not a design idea is a good idea. It basically comes down to this: What you want to achieve? If your design idea is, “I want to put the most beautiful pattern on the most beautiful piece of paper in the world,” and you can accomplish that.
If you can achieve that, that’s a good idea. If you can’t, well, if you can’t, then you can’t.
I am going to use a pattern design concept to help make this chapter a bit more interesting. I would like to tell you a story. I will give you a pattern and then tell you what it designates, and what, if anything, you need to do to achieve the design criteria. If you are reading this, if you are reading this because you know what you want to achieve, then great. If you are not, well, you shouldn’t.
Well, if you read this I hope you will find the pattern as interesting as I did. I am going to tell you a story and then make a pattern. As a story, it is about Colt Vahn, an amnesiac who wakes up on a beach with no memory of why he’s on Deathloop’s party island, Blackreef. That’s okay though because someone has left him vague messages in the sky about what to do.
I am not going to tell you a story about the pattern design ideas, because I am not going to tell you that it is a pattern, because I am not going to tell you that it is a pattern, but more like a pattern. It is quite well-known that some patterns are very clever, but the more clever ones are the more they can be a pattern.
